Instructions

The Rainbow E2 2 speed vacuum is a great machine, but there is one problem with it: the motor has a tendency to come loose. The cause is this gasket that can pop off the lip. To fix it we need to disassemble the vacuum cleaner.

The first step is to remove the cord from the vacuum.  Then use your flat head screwdriver to pop the cover off the side and remove the decal. Repeat on the other side.

There are two tabs on each side that keep the top and bottom connected. Hold the vacuum up from above to keep the weight off the bottom. Take your flat head screwdriver and push the tabs in. It can be a little tricky to get them pushed in, but when you do pull the bottom down a little to prevent them from popping back in place before you can get to the other side.

Once the tabs are pushed in on both side you can pull the two halves apart carefully. They will still be connected by wires, but you can now access the interior of the vacuum cleaner to fix the gasket!

With one hand (or arm) push down on the motor and with the other use the flat head screwdriver to pull the gasket back over the lip. When it is on correctly you won’t be able to see the lip anymore.

Now that the motor is secure you can reassemble the vacuum. Make sure to align everything as you put the top half back on. Also make sure you’re not pinching any wires or cables. Push down and it will snap back into place! Now you can reinstall the decals and plastic covers and you’re all done!
