You can also use to clean places like automotive interiors and your engine bay.

Your Rainbow vacuum can also be used to quickly inflate air mattresses, beachballs, and inner tubes.

Tools

  • ¼” bit driver or ¼” socketed wrench
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Needle nose pliers (not recommended, but can make disconnecting wires easier)

Instructions

E series 1 speed power head

Start by flipping the power head over. You will notice two clips on the bottom plate. Before dealing with those you’ll need to unlock the bottom plate.

Take your flat head screwdriver and turn the locks to the “unlock” position.

Then unclip and remove the bottom plate.

Now lift up the belt protector.

Then, using your flat head screwdriver, pry the brush roll up and disconnect it.

Now you need to remove the screws from the head with your Phillips head screwdriver. There is one located on each side. Be sure to set them aside in a safe place!

Turn your power head back over. Making sure that the pivot is down, remove the top cover.

There are three bolts that you will need to remove using your ¼” bit driver. Set them aside in a safe place.

Now we need to disconnect the wires. There is a small black one as shown above that you can carefully pull out.

Then disconnect the blue and red butt connector.

Now you can remove the motor!

It’s time to put the new motor in. Make sure the white wire is underneath it so that it doesn’t get pinched.

Place it back into the spot you removed the old motor from.

Now replace the three bolts.

Then plug the small black wire back into the motor.

And reconnect the red and blue butt connector.

Replace the top plate but snapping the front on first. Make sure the pivot is still down!

Flip the power head over and replace the screws.

Now it’s time to replace the brush roll. Start by looping the belt over the motor and then push the brush roll into place. Close the belt protector.

Replace the bottom plate by inserting the front end first.

And then lock it! You’re done!

E series E2 2 speed

Start by flipping the power head over and unlocking it with your flathead screwdriver. Remove the bottom plate.

Now open the belt protector and, using the flat head screwdriver, pop the brush roll out.

You’ll notice that there are no screws for this powerhead! You’ll need to take your screwdriver and get between the rubber bumper and the bottom plate and pry it apart. Make sure the pivot is down.

Flip it back over. Disconnect the white connector.

There are no screws, but there is are clips on the front and back holding the motor in. Using your flathead screwdriver, pop the motor above each clip.

Then slide the motor out of the tabs.

Now it’s time to put the new motor in. Slide the motor back in and push it down. You’ll hear it click into place.

Plug the white connected back in.

Line the top cover up and snap it back into place.

Flip it over and get the belt back on the motor. Then pop the brush roll back into place. Close the belt protector.

Replace the bottom place and lock it. You’re done!

How to Fix a Loose Motor on Rainbow E2 2 Speed Vacuums

Sometimes the motor comes a little loose over time, or during shipping. In this video, we show you how to put the motor back where it belongs with a few simple tools. This video applies to all Rainbow E2 2 speed vacuums from the Gold model to the Black model.

Important Safety Tips

  • Always make sure your machine is unplugged and the power button is turned off, before servicing your vacuum.
  • Always make sure your hands are dry and free from moisture before servicing your machine.
  • Be sure to wear gloves when servicing your machine to prevent any cuts or scrapes.
  • If you are uncomfortable working on your vacuum, please don’t hesitate to contact us at service@greatvacs.com and we can help you through the process or you can send it into us to fix it for you.

Tools

  • Flat head screwdriver

Instructions

The Rainbow E2 2 speed vacuum is a great machine, but there is one problem with it: the motor has a tendency to come loose. The cause is this gasket that can pop off the lip. To fix it we need to disassemble the vacuum cleaner.

The first step is to remove the cord from the vacuum.  Then use your flat head screwdriver to pop the cover off the side and remove the decal. Repeat on the other side.

There are two tabs on each side that keep the top and bottom connected. Hold the vacuum up from above to keep the weight off the bottom. Take your flat head screwdriver and push the tabs in. It can be a little tricky to get them pushed in, but when you do pull the bottom down a little to prevent them from popping back in place before you can get to the other side.

Once the tabs are pushed in on both side you can pull the two halves apart carefully. They will still be connected by wires, but you can now access the interior of the vacuum cleaner to fix the gasket!

With one hand (or arm) push down on the motor and with the other use the flat head screwdriver to pull the gasket back over the lip. When it is on correctly you won’t be able to see the lip anymore.

Now that the motor is secure you can reassemble the vacuum. Make sure to align everything as you put the top half back on. Also make sure you’re not pinching any wires or cables. Push down and it will snap back into place! Now you can reinstall the decals and plastic covers and you’re all done!
