VACUUM FINDER

BEST VACUUM

Here at Great Vacs we sometimes get asked how you put together a canister vacuum. Sometimes people will buy buy a vacuum from us and the head wont be running and its just a matter of making sure it is put together correctly and all the cords firmly attached.

All information that we have provided is third party information. The information contained is just what we have learned over the years from repairing and rebuilding vacuums.

All information and statements are merely our opinions. All official and technical information on vacuums is not contained within this information. For that information you need to contact the vacuum company or your local distributors. We are not a vacuum distributor nor are we associated in any way with any Vacuum company. We don't claim to include all information in this document but if there is something that you would like us to add, please let us know.

The first and most important thing is to understand the parts and what they are called.

Canister Vacuum Parts of a canister vacuum The main parts are: Main Canister Unit, Powered Hose, Main Long Wand and Powerhead (see picture). All canisters are basically the same. In this example we are using a Filter Queen Canister.
Canister Vacuum hose First attach cord from Main Hose to canister Firmly attach the cord from the main hose to the canister (see picture). This provides power to the main hose. Sometimes you will notice the power cord easily falls out this is common and easy to fix. Simply get a pair of needle nose pliers and adjust the the prongs outward. That will make it a tighter fit and wont fall out.
Canister Vacuum nozzle Connect cord from main wand to powered hose Simply connect the cord snugly from the main wand to the main cord.
Canister Vacuum head Connect cord from Main Wand to Powerhead Simply connect the cord snugly from the main wand to the powerhead. Now some models of canisters (rainbows for example) have a cord going from the powerhead that goes all the way up to the main hose and connects. So in that case you can skip this step.

Trouble Shooting Now test your vacuum, the powerhead should turn on and everything should work perfectly. If the head still does not come on some models of powerheads come with a reset switch. Simply press on the reset switch and it should work. Some models also have an on/off switch on the handle where you hand goes. If all else follows just turn that on :) That is how you put a canister vacuum together.

So far so good I really like this vacuum. I had a backpack for my home before, but always hated that it didn’t have a power head now I have it all in one package. It’s a real time saver and my wife can use it too. Thank you.

I like the vacuum, but it does have its flaws. The small ports the send the dirt to the container clogs up with hair as does the filter.. I’ve had to modify it so that we can make it through the night without having to constantly take it apart and clean it as we are moving from floor to floor or building to building.
