Hey, it’s Kyle from GreatVacs so you get a lot of questions from our customers asking why my Kirby vacuum engages whether going forward or backward. So today we're gonna show you a quick way to fix and adjust that.

HOW TO ADJUST TRANSMISSION ON YOUR KIRBY VACUUM CLEANER

The main cause of Kirby transmission engaging problems is a misaligned pivot assembly to check and properly align your pivot.

You need to disassemble your vacuum down to this point where you can see these two Torx screws.

If you aren't sure how to disassemble check out our video on Replacing Kirby pivot assembly. Where going into more details on reassembling and disassembling the vacuum.

Once the Kirby is all torn apart you can loosen these two Torx screws with a T25 Torx bit.

Well be using power tools today but you can do this with a regular bit driver these screws are pretty tight so make sure you bring some extra muscles.

You don’t need to take the screws out all the way but today we're going to take them out so you can see where we working.

Now that the screws are out you can see the holes let the insert and screw down in now that the screws are out you can move your pivot back and forth.

The best place for your pivot to be is right in the middle so if yours isn't there already set it in the middle of the holes and tighten the screws back down.

If your pivot is already in the middle and still having trouble looking at your transmission to engage at the right time you can make slight adjustments either forward or backward sticks on the transmission to engage property.

If your Kirby goes forward easily but doesn’t come back and they helped us slide the tip forward slightly and vice versa for the other direction.

If you are still having trouble getting your transmission to engage properly after checking and adjusting the pivot assembly check out some of our other Kirby vacuum transmission videos or feel free to send us an email at service@greatvacs.com with more information we’ll get you taken care of.

Alright, that’s it for today how to adjust or replace a Kirby vacuum pivot.
