Some central vacuum systems use a power brush that is driven by the air, or the suction, of your central vacuum unit. Some people notice that their head might not be picking up as well anymore, so they order a new one, although there wasn’t actually anything wrong with their old one! If this was your situation, you actually need more power!
Prolux just released their new CV12000 model, which has brand new technology that can really fix this problem. We are REALLY excited about this thing! It uses new 2 stage motors that produce over 130 cfm of air flow and are rated to work on homes up to 12,000 square feet!
In this video, Dustin shows you how fast your power brush should be spinning. If it’s NOT, then check to make sure nothing is wrapped around the roll. If it’s fine, that might be a sign you need to upgrade to a more powerful central vacuum.

If your brush roll doesn’t spin that quick and can’t vacuum thick carpet that fast, don’t just go out and buy another brush roll. If your central vacuum is more than 8-10 years old, it’s probably time to upgrade to a more power central vacuum unit! The technology has really advanced and the newer systems are overall better.
