There are few reasons that you may need to dissemble your Rainbow E-Series vacuum. They include regular maintenance, minor repair and regular basin cleaning. The design of this series allows for relatively simple steps to taking apart the vacuum. The first time you do this, it may be slightly challenging. But, after the first time you have done this, it will be easy to disassemble and reassemble the unit.

Here are the simple steps:

1. Be sure that your vacuum is turned off and unplugged.

2. Find the attachment button for the main hose, press it and release the hose.

3. Press the latches on the sides of the hose and remove the entire hose portion.

4. Remove the additional latches by the largest part of the unit. Take the power supply area out of the unit by taking out the gold screw found in the center of the power supply.

5. Now you will be able to easily reach the basin. You can remove the basin at this time. Even if you are not taking apart the unit specifically to clean the basin, you should take the opportunity to clean it every time you disassemble your vacuum.

It is a quick and easy process to take apart your vacuum, but be sure to handle all of the components with care. Also, if you have washed your basin, be sure that it is dried completely before placing it back into the base of the vacuum.

What is the differences with all the Rainbow Vacuums pictured?

At  UsedRainbowVacuums we try and do things a little different.   Instead of stock images of a Rainbow vacuum we try and show you pictures of what the vacuum actually looks like.   We also understand that different people are looking for different Rainbows.  Some people are on a tight budget and just want the basic Rainbow vacuum and some people want it loaded with all the extras.   So on the same model we try and include different combinations from the basic tools to the most loaded one you can imagine.  So once you have decided on  your model just carefully look at the picture and buy the one that has the tools you think you need.

On the same model of vacuum why is there a difference in price?

If your looking at the same model of Rainbow vacuum you will notice there is a difference in price.   Why is that?  A Rainbow vacuum with its standard tools (all Rainbows come with both hoses and 4 on board tools) vs. a Rainbow with a carpet shampooer, mini head Rainbow Mate, and air purifier will cost more because of all the extra stuff it has with it.  The rule of thumb is the more expensive it is the more loaded with extras it is.  If you want a cheaper price then get it less loaded.

How do I decide on what the best Rainbow for me is?

There are 2 steps for picking a Rainbow vacuum.  The first step is to decide which model of Rainbow vacuum you want.   The more older the model the lower the price.   To look at differences between models go to “Rainbow Vacuum Model Differences” on our website.   Once you have decided on the model you want either search that model in our search bar or at the top left of any page you will see a drop down menu where you can select the Rainbow you are looking for.   When you are looking at a list of Rainbow vacuums on the model you want then we are ready for step 2.   Step 2 is now you look at the pictures and pricing and decide which tools or accessories that you want.  All our vacuums come exactly as pictured so once you have found the one with the tools you want your search is over and that’s the one to buy.

What is the difference between models?

In the top left corner of any page is a link to our “Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner Model Differences” (or click on that link)

.

What does the Rainbow Vacuum come with exactly?

All of our Rainbow vacuums come exactly as pictured.  So if you see it in the picture then that means it will come with it.   If you don’t see it in the picture then it wont come with it.

What is your return policy?

We have a very liberal return policy.  Its no questions asked 30 day money back guarantee!  It is less shipping costs.  The vacuum needs to be returned in the same condition you received it and and then there are no additional return fees.   However if you want to exchange it for another model (say you decide to upgrade models) then there is no shipping charge fees.  What we do on exchanges is you ship the old one back to us and we ship you the new one and no shipping charges.   You will find we are easy to work with and want to make you happy with your purchase.

Is there a warranty on your Rainbow Vacuums?

Even though the Rainbow vacuums that get traded into or sold to us run perfect we still go through and completely rebuild them with new parts (including motor parts, bearings, seals, gaskets and more).  Why do we do that?  So they qualify for our 5 year motor warranty.   When you buy one of our already rebuilt Rainbow vacuums you can expect them to last for many years to come.   It is really really rare that we even have warranty work on our rebuilt Rainbows.  Motor work on a Rainbow typically costs about 350 dollars from most service centers.  So you paying 40 or 50 dollars in shipping (customer pays for shipping costs and we pay for all labor and parts) is a great value and gives you piece of mind.   You can expect many years of worry free service from your Rainbow Vacuum.

Do you offer installment payments?

Currently we do not.   However we do accept paypal which has a “bill me later” feature that you can take advantage of.  We also accept credit cards that gives you some extra time before you have to pay.

Do you accept Trade ins or do you buy Rainbow Vacuums?

Yes we do.  Keep in mind that we sell our rebuild Rainbows at near wholesale pricing.  A normal place that offers a trade in has so much mark up that they can give you a lot for a trade in.  You will be offered a fair price for your trade in because we don’t play games with pricing.  We also buy Rainbow vacuums.  We get contacted all the time from people who cant afford their payments anymore or simply have an old model they want to sell to us.   Or we notice people who buy a house with a central vacuum will sometimes want to sell their Rainbow.  If you have a Rainbow you are not using anymore we can give it a new home.

Where do you get your used Rainbow Vacuums from?

Rainbow vacuums are so popular its hard for us to find them.   In fact we sell out of them quite often (see usedrainbowvacuums.com site for availability).   So where do we get them?  We get some from our vacuum retail and service center in West Jordan, Utah.   We also get some traded into us when people upgrade to newer models.   Sad to say that during the recession when people lost their jobs we got contacted a lot with people wanting to sell us their Rainbow.  If you lose your job the high end vacuum is the first to go.  We are proud that we can help people out and we are here when they need to order another one.

If I want you to Service my Rainbow Vacuum how does that work?

Here are some details on how it works if you want us to rebuild or service your Rainbow vacuum.   Did you know that since the big box stores have started selling a lot of disposable vacuums (they don’t offer service) that nearly half of the vacuum service centers in the US have gone out of business or have retired?  Many people frankly cannot find service for there Rainbow vacuum locally.   We are here to help!  The good news is that with our shipping volume we can ship a lot cheaper than you can.  When you buy a repair package from us shipping is covered by us (this is a 50 dollar value each direction).  Even with shipping our service customers from other states still save 38% on average.

So we have put together some service packages at usedrainbowvacuums.com (click on service or repairs).  Where you can select the service that your Rainbow needs and pay for it up front.  We will email you instructions on how to ship your vacuum to us.  You can put notes in the box on what it all needs.  When we get it we will repair everything and contact you if we need to do anything special.  Then ship it right back.   Or you can buy one of our already rebuilt Rainbow vacuums.  Keep in mind all of our work is backed by our 5 year motor warranty!

We have allergies, which is the best model for that?

On the Rainbow models D3, D4, and SE.  They do not come with a HEPA filter they simply use water to filter with.   We have heard from lots of customers that those models improved their allergies in their home even over disposable big box vacuums that had HEPA filters (part of the reason is your not storing dirt in a bag).  However very small particles (like ash or drywall dust) can pass through the water unfiltered.   Because of that on the more recent models like the E series or E2 Rainbows in addition to water filtration come with a HEPA filter to catch anything the water may have missed.  So any Rainbow is good for allergies and the new models are great for allergies.

What maintenance do I have to do on Rainbow Vacuums?

See our article on Rainbow Vacuum Maintenance.   However the best things you can do is don’t store your water bowl attached to the vacuum, make sure your brushroll does not have any strings or anything wrapped around it, for the models that have filters change your filters when they get dirty, and from time to time clean out your water separator with a brush.

How long does it take for delivery?

We ship within 24 hours of payment and to see estimated delivery times in the US

Do you provide a invoice on each order?

Yes every order will a have a copy of your invoice inside the box.

Do you provide a tracking number when my order ships?

Yes on every order if you provide us with a valid email address we will email out tracking information when the order ships out.   If you don’t get this email check your spam box and for some reason AOL usually blocks this email.  Please try and provide us with a non AOL email when you place your order and you should get the tracking email no problem.

Kirby vacuum owners have purchased a high quality vacuum system in hopes of getting the best quality cleaning and product life value for their hard earned money. Without continued and proper maintenance even top of the line vacuums can lose their amazing cleaning abilities.

Some of the most noticeable issues with vacuums include decreased cleaning power and noisiness. You can trouble shoot both of these issues easily. Here are some steps to finding out what the issues are and fixing them.

If you have noticed that your vacuum does not have as much suction as usual, you will first want to check on the roller. The roller can affect the cleaning and suction power greatly when it has been jammed up with dirt and hair. This is an easy fix, as you can usually clean the roller out within minutes.

If your Kirby G5 vacuum is making an unpleasant noise, it is most likely a belt issue. You should read your manual to learn how to replace a belt and do it as scheduled. If a belt has extreme wear or a small tear, it could make a loud noise and can cause further damage if not repaired immediately.

Another simple troubleshooting step to take if your vacuum is not working as well as usual is to check the actual vacuum bag. These bags can tear and the tear will cause airflow to decrease and dirt to slowly seep back into the air.
