How to Replace the Foot Pedal on a GV Power Head

If your GV Power Head’s pedal has broken off for one reason or another, you’re probably not too happy about it. But good news! In this video we show you the easy way to remove and replace the pedal.

Important Safety Tips

  • Always make sure your machine is unplugged and the power button is turned off, before servicing your vacuum.
  • Always make sure your hands are dry and free from moisture before servicing your machine.
  • Be sure to wear gloves when servicing your machine to prevent any cuts or scrapes.
  • If you are uncomfortable working on your vacuum, please don’t hesitate to contact us at service@greatvacs.com and we can help you through the process or you can send it into us to fix it for you.

Tools

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Flat head screwdriver

Instructions

Start by flipping your power head over and removing the 11 screws so that you can separate the bottom plate from the top. Set the screws aside in a safe place.

Flip back over and remove the top cover.

Unplug the wire that goes to the top cover and set the cover aside.

There are 2 more screws holding the pivot in place. Remove those and set aside.

The pivot will need to be moved so that you can get to the pedal.

To get the foot pedal out, you'll need to remove a metal pin and a small metal spring. To remove this pin use your flat head screwdriver to push it partway out. Then you can remove the foot pedal with the pin and spring.

Use the needle nose pliers to pull the pin out of the pedal. Don’t lose the spring, because you will need it for the replacement.

To assemble the new foot pedal, insert the pin partway.

Take the spring and line the longer, straight end up in the back of the pedal.

Then push the spring down so the pin can go through the spring and out the other side.

Push the pin through just to the other side as shown above.

Insert the long end of the pin into the pin hole.

Pushing down on the foot pedal, take your flat head screwdriver and bend the angled end of the spring into the hole.

Now, push the pin in the rest of the way.

Once the foot pedal is in you can replace the pivot.

Reconnect the plug.

Replace the top cover, making sure not to pinch any wires.

Finally, flip the power head over and then replace the screws.

How to Clean the Fan on New Comfort Air Purifiers

In this video, we go over cleaning the fan our New Comfort Air Purifiers. If your purifier is starting to get dusty or dirty, it’s time for a cleaning!

Instructions

First, we’ll take a look at an ozone generator. To access the fan you’ll need to take off the top cover. There are screws on the sides and top handle portion. Once the screws are removed you can take the top handle off and then remove the top cover.

This is a great time to not only clean the fan, but to clean everything else on the inside. To clean the fan you can use an air compressor, canned air, rag or a duster brush.

Now we’ll show you how to access the fan on a 6 stage New Comfort air purifier. If you have a front grill, accessing the fan is going to be a breeze.

On some models there is a notch on the bottom of the grill where you can get your fingers under. Then you can just pop the grill off.

If you don’t have a notch you can use a flat head screwdriver to get between the case and the grill and pop it off that way.

Once it’s off you have access to the fan. You can use an air compressor, canned air, rag, or duster brush to clean it.

How to Clean a Water Based Air Purifier

In this video, Kyle teaches us how to easily clean almost any water-based air purifier!

Important Safety Tips

  • Always make sure your machine is unplugged and the power button is turned off, before servicing your machine.
  • Always make sure your hands are dry and free from moisture before servicing your machine.
  • Be sure to wear gloves when servicing your machine to prevent any cuts or scrapes.
  • If you are uncomfortable working on your machine, please don’t hesitate to contact us at service@greatvacs.com and we can help you through the process or you can send it into us to fix it for you.

Instructions

For our demonstration, we’ll be using a Prolux water-based air purifier.

As you can see, the bowl has a lot of hard water on the inside.

We’re going to submerge the bowl in a bucket of hot water. If you’re at home you can use a sink.

Once it is completely submerged you’re going to add a cup of distilled white vinegar and let it soak for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes you can remove the bowl and wipe it down. You can rinse it with water if you’d like, but it’s not necessary. It should look pretty much brand new!

Here’s another trick to cleaning not only the bowl, but the underside of the motor. Fill the bowl to the fill line with a mix of warm water and vinegar. The put the top portion back on.

Then plug it in and let it run for about 12 hours. Then, just empty the water bowl and wipe everything down!

How to Attach A Tool Caddy to A Central Vacuum Wand

When you purchase a new Central Vacuum Tool Kit, the number of tools and attachments can be overwhelming. In this video Kyle demonstrates how to attach and use the 3-Peg Tool Caddy.

  • If you are uncomfortable working on your machine, please don’t hesitate to contact us at service@greatvacs.com and we can help you through the process or you can send it into us to fix it for you.

Instructions

This process work for either the GV or Prolux central hose kit. We will start the process by demonstrating it on the wand. You’ll notice two things: your wand has a button lock and none of your tools have a hole to accept this button lock. It’s okay, because the tools are friction fit and will still fit on the end of the wand. All you need to do is slide the tool on while pushing down the button lock.

The hose works the same way – just slide the tool on the end while pushing down the button lock and friction will keep it in place.

To attach the tool caddy to the extendable wand start by extended it out.

Take the tool caddy and firmly push it onto the wand. You’re done!
