How to Keep Your Rainbow 2 Prong Cord from Falling Out

There you are… Vacuuming your home and all sudden your power head turns off. You look down and there it lies, the 2-prong cord connection. You plug it back in and seconds later it falls out again. Out of frustration you don’t know what to do. However, here at Great Vacs were all about helping people. So, in this quick video we will show you a quick trick to keep your Rainbow 2 prong cord connection from falling out.

Important Safety Tips

  • Always make sure your machine is unplugged and the power button is turned off, before servicing your vacuum.
  • Always make sure your hands are dry and free from moisture before servicing your machine.
  • Be sure to wear gloves when servicing your machine to prevent any cuts or scrapes.
  • If you are uncomfortable working on your vacuum, please don’t hesitate to contact us at service@greatvacs.com and we can help you through the process or you can send it into us to fix it for you.

Tools

  • Needle nose pliers

Instructions

The first things you need to do are unplug the two-prong connection and unhook the hose.

Take your needle nose pliers and bend the prongs out slightly.

Now hook your hose back up and plug the two-prong connection back in.

Tug on the cord to see if it falls out. If it still falls out try bending the prongs a little more. If it’s snug then you’re good to go!

Transforming Your Kirby Vacuum into a Blowing/Inflating Machine

Kirby vacuums are well known for their suction power and durability! But did you know, you can use that same power, but have your Kirby be a great blowing/inflating machine? In this short video we will show how easy it is to transform it.

Instructions

The first thing you’ll want to do is twist the bag counterclockwise, which unlocks it from the vacuum.

Once that’s done you can disconnect the bag from the top of the vacuum and set it aside.

Now take you hose and if you look inside you’ll see three tabs.

Those tabs line up with the brass tabs on the vacuum.

Line the hose up, making sure that the two hooks are facing away from the vacuum cleaner, and set it on. You may want to twist it each direction to make sure it falls into place all the way.

Take the hose end and twist it clockwise to lock it in place.

You can also check the safety switch on the side of the vacuum. There’s a tab on the hose end that will engage the switch when it’s properly locked in.

You’re done! Now you can turn the Kirby vacuum on and use all of your blowing and inflating attachments!

How to Test Your Rainbow Vacuum Power Head

Is your Rainbow Vacuum Power Head not working like it should? Try this simple troubleshooting trick to see if the problem actually is your power head.

Instructions

We are starting with the SE power head. Remember that warning to make sure your vacuum is turned off and unplugged when you service it? Well, this time you’ll actually need to plug it in! Then, take your two-prong connector and plug it in to the canister itself.

Flip the power head over and turn your vacuum on. In our video the power head does turn on. If your power head turns on when it’s plugged directly into the vacuum, the problem is likely in the hose.

If your power head didn’t turn on it could be a problem with the two-prong connection or something else within the power head. In that case send us an email to service@greatvacs.com with details about your problem and we can help!

The E series is the same process. Take the power head cord and plug it in to the canister. Then flip the power head over and turn the vacuum on.
