How to Clean a Water Based Air Purifier

In this video, Kyle teaches us how to easily clean almost any water-based air purifier!

Important Safety Tips

  • Always make sure your machine is unplugged and the power button is turned off, before servicing your machine.
  • Always make sure your hands are dry and free from moisture before servicing your machine.
  • Be sure to wear gloves when servicing your machine to prevent any cuts or scrapes.
  • If you are uncomfortable working on your machine, please don’t hesitate to contact us at service@greatvacs.com and we can help you through the process or you can send it into us to fix it for you.

Instructions

For our demonstration, we’ll be using a Prolux water-based air purifier.

As you can see, the bowl has a lot of hard water on the inside.

We’re going to submerge the bowl in a bucket of hot water. If you’re at home you can use a sink.

Once it is completely submerged you’re going to add a cup of distilled white vinegar and let it soak for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes you can remove the bowl and wipe it down. You can rinse it with water if you’d like, but it’s not necessary. It should look pretty much brand new!

Here’s another trick to cleaning not only the bowl, but the underside of the motor. Fill the bowl to the fill line with a mix of warm water and vinegar. The put the top portion back on.

Then plug it in and let it run for about 12 hours. Then, just empty the water bowl and wipe everything down!

How to Attach A Tool Caddy to A Central Vacuum Wand

When you purchase a new Central Vacuum Tool Kit, the number of tools and attachments can be overwhelming. In this video Kyle demonstrates how to attach and use the 3-Peg Tool Caddy.

Important Safety Tips

  • Always make sure your machine is unplugged and the power button is turned off, before servicing your vacuum.

This process work for either the GV or Prolux central hose kit. We will start the process by demonstrating it on the wand. You’ll notice two things: your wand has a button lock and none of your tools have a hole to accept this button lock. It’s okay, because the tools are friction fit and will still fit on the end of the wand. All you need to do is slide the tool on while pushing down the button lock.

The hose works the same way – just slide the tool on the end while pushing down the button lock and friction will keep it in place.

To attach the tool caddy to the extendable wand start by extended it out.

Take the tool caddy and firmly push it onto the wand. You’re done!

How to Clean the Filters on a Prolux CV12000 Central Vacuum

If you own a Prolux CV12000 Central Vacuum, you may find after a while that the filters get full of dirt and dust. Today we show you how to remove, clean, and replace the inner cloth and HEPA filters to get your vacuum back to tip-top shape!

Important Safety Tips

  • Always make sure your machine is unplugged and the power button is turned off, before servicing your vacuum.
  • Always make sure your hands are dry and free from moisture before servicing your machine.
  • Be sure to wear gloves when servicing your machine to prevent any cuts or scrapes.
  • If you are uncomfortable working on your vacuum, please don’t hesitate to contact us at service@greatvacs.com and we can help you through the process or you can send it into us to fix it for you.

Instructions

You will need to take off the top portion of your Prolux CV12000 vacuum. There are two clamps, one on each side, that needs unlatched. Watch your fingers to make sure they don’t get pinched or crushed!

Once it’s unclamped, take the top portion off. You won’t need the dust bin, so you can set it to the side.

Lay the vacuum down so you have access to the filters.

The first filter is a micron cloth filter. To remove it, just grab the tab and pull up and out.

The second filters is a HEPA filter. To remove it, just untwist the black part in the middle.

Then pull the filter out.

Now that the filters are removed you can clean them. To clean the micron cloth filter you can shake it out, use an air compressor, or use a vacuum to get the dirt out.

The HEPA filter is the only filter on the Prolux CV12000 central vacuum that is washable. You can also use an air compressor or vacuum to get the dirt out.

Once they’re both clean you can reinstall them.

Start with the HEPA filter. Insert the filter and line it up with the screw going through the hole. Then take the black piece and twist it back on. It should be pretty tight.

The micron cloth filter can be a little tricky to put back in. The easiest way is to bend the metal band in half and line the curve up in the groove.

Then slowly release the band while guiding it into the groove. Take great care to keep your fingers away, since it will quickly and suddenly snap back into place!
