I very excitedly found this website as my wife and I were looking for a Kirby but did not want to buy a brand new machine from a home sales demo. We couldn’t pass up the deal advertised on GreatVacs’ website: $599.99 for a “100% Rebuilt” Kirby Diamond Edition with attachments, bags, and a 5 year warranty. I placed the order and within a few days, it was shipped to my door. As soon as I opened the box and started pulling out parts, the disappointment set in. Everything was dirty. The plastic parts were grimy, particularly in the cracks and crevices, the aluminum had black smudges and left black on my fingers (as if someone had started to polish it but didn’t buff all the compound off), and the interior of the bag had pet hair stuck to it. Additionally, the “brand new” brush roll was dirty and I easily removed a fair amount of filth just running a damp cloth on it. Mechanically, it turned on fine but the height adjustment pedals stick really bad and the TechDrive self propelled feature clicks when in neutral, something I found on YouTube to mean that the drive pedal needed to be replaced. It is also stated on the website that a turbo pet tool would be included with the attachment set. I was not only missing it, but also one of the other attachments. Overall, what I received was far from the fully rebuilt product that was promised on the website. If it states in the description “100% Rebuilt! - Our experts here at GreatVacs have rebuilt over 100,000 vacuums. Each vacuum has been rebuilt with new bearings, seals, motor parts, attachments, belts, brush roll and too many other parts to mention. So you can buy in confidence, knowing your rebuilt vacuum will have the same longevity and performance as a brand new unit.”, that is what I expect to get. I contacted GreatVacs and was very promptly answered with a sincere apology, a shipping label to send the unit back, and an explanation that a replacement would be sent to me. At this point, I’m still very satisfied with the company itself and figured maybe they sent me the wrong machine, the repair tech was new or having a bad day, whatever. Mistakes happen, no big deal. I was just fine to pack everything back in the box and haul it to the UPS store to ship it back. Several days later, I got the “replacement”. They replaced the brush roll , and put a different bag assembly on the EXACT SAME VACUUM that I had been sent before. Nothing was cleaned, none of the other worn parts repaired or replaced, and I was still missing the turbo pet tool. The height adjustment still sticks and the TechDrive still clicks! By then, we’re right at the holidays and there was far too much going on to deal with it. I now have had the opportunity to write this and here’s the thing…I really wish I was able to write a better review. They seem to have done very well based on other buyer’s feedback and I only wish I was able to have the same experience. I basically feel like I could have gone on eBay or Facebook Marketplace and found something cheaper and in better condition! In the meantime, we bought a crappy $50 vacuum from the store to keep up with two kids and a dog until we can figure out what to do with the Kirby. The original one that was sent was a mistake that I was happy to look past as long as the issue was resolved. The absolute lack of effort in correcting the problem and doing the bare minimum to send me a replacement is the reason for the poor review. $599.99 for the Kirby I received is unacceptable!
