Central Vacuum Cleaners are the most powerful vacuum made. They can be very convenient and have a much longer life cycle than the standard vacuum. Another advantage is if you suffer from allergies. The dirt and allergens are typically vented in the garage or outside reducing allergies and asthma. When choosing a Central Vacuum consider these tips:

House Size. Get a Central Vacuum big enough to handle your home. When you look at our central vacuums you will see a square foot rating on each vacuum. It’s always better to go over than under. When doing in home demonstrations of vacuum cleaners we actually found that most central vacuum cleaners had less power than your standard vacuum even though at the main unit it had way more. Why is that? It’s a fact that the longer the hose of a vacuum cleaner the less power it will have. Some installers will put the central vacuum clear on one side of the house (usually the garage) and use lots of piping that dosent make sense. Sometimes you will have 150 feet of tubing and hose before it gets to the vacuum head. So if you have a 3000 square foot home we suggest you get one rated for a 4000 square foot room or more.   That way you have plenty of power for vacuuming.  

Power Nozzles & Accessories

Power Nozzle and Hose. Spend some good money on a Power Nozzle. The nice thing about Central Vacuums is you have a choice on the type of Power Nozzle you may want to use. The Central Vacuum Cleaner itself uses a by pass system where the dirt and debris will not go through a fan chamber but drop directly into the dirt chamber. This is why a Central Vacuum Cleaner will last a lot longer than a standard vacuum. If you maintain it they will last a long time and be a great investment for your home. The Vacuum Power Nozzle though will still take the same amount of abuse.  You central vacuum unit itself will probably last for decades but depending on use you may have to replace the power nozzle and hose a couple of times.   The better your Vacuum Power Nozzle the better it will pick up and vacuum with as well. At our warehouse we use a central vacuum cleaner that each of our repair techs use when rebuilding or repairing a vacuum cleaner. One of the first things they do is vacuum out the old bag. DON’T DO THIS AT HOME but we have vacuumed up dirt, rocks, nails, screws, plastic and metal. We run our Central Vacuum Cleaner full time several hours a day on average and have been doing that for many years and it’s still going strong.
