Any homeowner has experienced the annoyance of a frayed electric cord. These can be found on common household items such as laptops, lamps, kitchen appliances and even Rainbow Vacuums. Depending on the severity of the fraying, they can usually be fixed.
If you have noticed a cord that has just begun to fray and tear, you will want to try to prevent any further damage from happening to the cord. You can do this by purchasing electrical tape. It can be found at most home improvement stores and many full service grocery stores. Next, you will want to place the tape on the cord where it is beginning to fray.
The electrical tape should be wrapped tightly around the cord. Each time you use the household item, you will need to take a look at the tape to be sure that it is still on the cord tightly. Remember to not any type of tape that is not safe for electrical cords. That can be hazardous.
You can prolong the lifetime of your household items by using easy repair items, such as electrical tape. But, if your item has a warranty, be sure to check the warranty booklet before doing any at-home repairs that may damage the item further.
