Maintaining Your Kirby Vacuum

The lifespan and the cleaning power of a
Kirby vacuum can be improved greatly with the proper maintenance. The maintenance types will depend on the age and the model of the specific vacuum that one owns.
Changing a vacuum belt regularly is an important maintenance task. If a model does not have an indicator light, the belt should be replaced ever 11 months or so. If an indicator light for the belt turns on, the belt should be replaced immediately. Belts for the specific brand and model should be used. They can easily be found online.
Depending on the amount of use of the specific machine each year, the roller should be replaced every few years. It could be sooner or longer depending upon the use of the main portion of the vacuum. Also, regular cleaning of the roller can prolong the life of the vacuum roller slightly.
Be sure to clean the permanent vacuum bag area well to reduce any odors that may build up over years of use. You can do this by using another
vacuum with an attachment to suction out any dust, hair or dirt. This will keep any new bags clean and odor free.
To keep vacuum looking new, take care not to bump the vacuum onto walls or end tables. Clean and wipe areas of the vacuum with a damp cloth. This will help to keep the machine looking new and reducing build up of dirt or other household spills to cake onto the outer shell.
