A high quality vacuum will include a variety of features in addition to regular carpet vacuuming. One of these fantastic features that is included with many Kirby Vacuum models as an add-on is the carpet shampooer attachment.
If you are using the shampoo attachment for the first time it is important to understand how to use it properly to ensure that the quality of your carpet is upheld. You will want to read the directions in a manual before beginning.
Each model may vary slightly. The way that the attachment is placed may be different for each model, but the overall method for shampooing the carpet will be the same.
First you will want to prepare your carpet by vacuuming it very well to remove dry dirt. You will also want to protect your furniture by removing it. If you cannot remove your furniture protect the finishes from getting wet with waxed paper or plastic wrap.
Next you will need to remove the vacuum head and attach with the shampooing device. Depending on the model, you may have to add or remove other items. Locate the correct buttons for shampooing to prepare the water tank.
Use warm water in the tank and fill the reserve with the Kirby vacuum brand shampoo substance. Using other products may cause problems if they have a higher sulfate (bubble creating) content. Next you will begin actually shampooing the floor by depositing the foam from the vacuum into the carpet.
Be sure to go over high traffic areas and areas with stains or odors more than once. After you have cleaned a 8 foot area wait for 10 minutes for the soap to set in. After the 10 minutes have passed, you will slowly use the vacuum to remove the foam from the carpeted area.
Tips for removing the foam from the carpet include using slow movements to properly get out the foam. Go over the same area several times until foam no longer comes up in the tray. If the tray becomes full, quickly change it out and start the foam removing process again.
